Vietnamese Mary

A few days before her surgery, Mary celebrated Girl Scout "Thinking Day". This is where each troop honors a specific country or culture. Mary's Brownie Troop celebrated Vietnam.

Her troop learned an official Vietnamese dance taught by one of the mothers, who grew up in Vietnam.

They practiced and practiced before the big day on stage.

Unfortunately, due to lack of space, parents weren't allowed to attend the show; but that's ok. Ted got lots of pictures from practice.

And another great experience for Mary!

  4. Girl Scouting is wonderful! So happy to see your sweet Mary participating. I was the leader for my daughters troop from first grade right through high school. Thinking Day was always one of my faves. My daughter and I share many happy memories from scouting, as you and Mary will.

  6. Dear Mary...
That was such a special treat to dress in another culture and have so much fun doing it. I bet Strawberry Shortcake would enjoy that too!
Your little dolls are safe and sound at Once Upon a Fairyland. I will be putting them on my blog soon!
You will have a paycheck coming in March. I will put it in the mail to you on March 5th. As soon as the mailman gets there you'll have some money to save or spend. Yeah Mary!

  7. Oh Mary is so beautiful!! Tell her that I have a picture of me and two other girls from my troop making boxes for the Viet Nam soliders!! They did a story about it in our local paper. I can remember it like it was yesterday! It was alot of fun collecting the items! I have a big heart for that war! I knew alot of soliders that went in to it. So I couldn't believe Mary did her "thinking day" on Viet Nam!! And her picture is so beautiful!! Been keeping her in my prayers, and you too Jill. Love ya. XOXO
