The Legend of Sleepy Hollow

When the spooks have a midnight Jamboree
They break it up with fiendish glee
Ghosts are bad, but the one that's cursed
It's the Headless Horseman, he's the worst!

But when he goes a-joggin' 'cross the land
Holdin' his noggin in his hand
Demons take one look and groan
And hit the road for parts unknown
Beware, take care, he rides alone!

They say he's tired of his flamin' top
He's got a yen to make a swap
So he rides one night each year
To find a head in the hollow here.

With a hip-hip and a clippity-clop
He's out lookin' for a top to chop
So don't stop to figure out a plan
You can't reason with a headless man!

So when you're riding home tonight
Make for the bridge with all your might
He'll be down in the hollow there
He needs your head, look out, Beware!

  1. You must have the freshest breath in the world eating all those altoids all the time!! ;) You are super productive! I love Halloween. I love all your details especially the little orange roses! Did you write the poem too? You are good my friend!!! Have a great Sunday!!! ~Shelley O.

  2. Hi Shelley, thanks!

I DO try to keep myself minty-fresh but there's no way I've been eating all those Altoids! I got some on freecycle and even bought some on Ebay!

NO! I cannot tell a lie. The poem is from the Disney cartoon version of Legend of Sleepy Hollow and narrated by Bing Crosby. It's the BEST version ever!

  3. I loved this post! I was just looking on Ebay for vintage Halloween stuff. I absolutely love the holiday, and it's never too soon to start looking for decorations!
    Happy Sunday!

  4. Oh shut up! I love love love the altered tin. Halloween is my absolute FAV holiday. Seriously, when is the etsy shop opening?
